PLACEHOLDER TEAM INTRO — WOMBAT. One short paragraph framing the page, to be written.

On this page

Chidi Okonkwo — Broker Analyst

Chidi has traded online for more than ten years. He tests the brokers we cover and writes the reviews — going through the platforms, the account types, the fees and the tools, and comparing them against each other rather than against a marketing page. The part that takes the time is not listing what a broker offers, but working out whether it is worth using, who it suits, and who should look elsewhere.

Thandiwe Mokoena — Regulatory Research

Thandiwe spent years in research work where an answer only counted if it came from the original document.

Most of what is written about this industry is either generated by a model that will invent a plausible-sounding fact, or written in generalities because the truth is genuinely complicated. Her job is to go and find out: which licence a broker actually holds and from whom, which company in a group will hold a reader’s account in their country, what the law in that country actually says — and what protection any of it gives the person opening the account. Where she cannot establish something, she writes that down too.

Grace Adeyemi — Editor

Grace worked in newsrooms, where separating a fact from an opinion is the job. She decides what goes on this site and reads everything before it is published.

Her role is to keep those two things apart. A fact is something we can point to a source for; an opinion is what we think it means, and it is labelled as ours. If a claim cannot be shown, it does not go on the page — however reasonable it sounds.

Naledi Dube — Design and User Experience

Naledi has spent her career making complicated information usable. She builds and tests these pages on a mid-range Android phone over mobile data, because that is what most of our readers are using, and she removes anything that makes a page slower without making it clearer.

Sipho Ndlovu — Technology and Data

The data is the centre of how this site works: every review here is written from it rather than from anyone’s impression.

Sipho is a data engineer and he owns that database. His job is to keep it complete and current — every figure carrying the source it came from and the date it was checked, and re-checked on a schedule rather than when somebody notices one has gone stale.

Kwabena Asare — Head of Operations

Kwabena decides what this site builds and where it goes. Most of that is working out what a trader still cannot get anywhere else — the comparison tools, the country-by-country regulatory data, the questions nobody else answers — and making sure we are the ones who answer them.

A note about our team

Our team works hard to keep everything here accurate and current. But none of us is a lawyer and none of us is a financial adviser, and a site this size will contain mistakes — a figure a broker changed last week, a rule we read one way and a court would read another. Treat what you find here as a starting point and do your own research before you act on it.

Your money is yours and so is the decision. Trading carries real risk and you can lose what you put in. If a question matters enough — how a law applies to you, what something will cost you in tax, whether a product suits your situation — take it to an actual lawyer or an actual financial adviser in your own country.
